Case and control patient identification. a Eligible cancer diagnosis for control include all primary malignancies with the exception of STS, hematological malignancies, GIST, osteosarcoma, or Kaposi’s sarcoma. b For cases, the observation period is the number of days from the STS diagnosis in the EMR to disenrollment in claims or the end of the study period (7/31/2018). For controls, the observation period is the longest period of overlap of enrollment in both claims and EMR during the study period of 1/1/2000 through 7/31/2018
